Sharon - thank you for sharing this with us. As I was reading what Chris wrote about God working on him, but you don’t see it because it’s not intended for you - man, when I read that my heart was stabbed. I know God told me He was going to bring David home and he would be the Godly man I desire. There are no outward signs of any change in David - but maybe God is working on him - it’s just not changes that we would see yet.
My son met David’s new wife at a family wedding in April. David’s brother got married in San Antonio where Josh lives. My father in law was there, and had never met Josh’s baby, so Josh went to the reception and had a couple of meals with them. Josh says they exchanged pleasantries and that was about it. It hurts a little to know that she held my grandson, but God is working on me about that. David got married in October - went to my oldest daughter’s house in December to drop off Christmas presents but left his wife shopping somewhere - asked my son to meet him at a shopping center to get the kids Christmas presents, but his wife was shopping in one of the stores - then saw my son at his brothers wedding in April. Since my youngest daughter told him straight up she never has any intention of meeting his new wife - he hasn’t even tried to see her. He calls them each once a month - but that’s about it. And all the pics I’ve seen of him, he looks drunk. BUT, maybe God IS working on him and it’s just not visible to us yet. 🙏

I am sure that God is speaking to him, because he said many things that he would only know if God had spoken them, but then I don’t think he really believes those things in his heart. There is no way honestly. That’s the way I see it. When I spoke to a counselor about Chris’s issues, the counselor told me to give up on Chris. He said one or two problems, he could maybe help. But Chris is a narcissist, Codependent, a sex addict, and an intimacy anorexic. There is no hope. And it made me laugh when the counselor told me that, because God has told me that where there is no way, He will make a way. The whole point of all of this is for God to be glorified. Like when God narrowed down Gideon’s army from 32,000 to a couple hundred. He could have done the same thing with the much larger army, but our God likes to show off because it helps people understand how much bigger he really is. There’s no questioning if it was God who did it when there was no hope at all. I think for both of us, God just plans to show off cause he has some huge things in store for us! I know right now I am completely content in waiting until He is ready. Some days are easier to say that then others, but for now I am satisfied. I often feel hopeless too sister, but then I have to look back. God has done so much already and I refuse to look back and think that was coincidence. It was God doing what he said he will do and he continues to do it. He loves us sister and he wants to bless us with all these things added. |
