I just wrote a different post asking for help in prayer and expressing that I've not been engaged enough in my relationship with God lately. I have been thinking about doing a fast or special Bible study or something, because I need to get back on track and God-focused again, but I thought: maybe that is something we can do as a group?
What do you guys think? Would you like to do something together? We used to do fasts/prayer on Tuesdays, but I'm open to other ideas!

Yes, definitely I think we should all do a group bible study and fast together! I have about 100 suggestions for Bible Study's, but FaithGateway has some amazing Bible study's that we could all go through and discuss. What do you think?

I learned early in my stand about the power of fasting. I still do it every Tuesday....breakfast and lunch. I will say i got lazy....weary really....in the months after my car accident...and skipped many weeks. I don't always see the benefit in Dana's actions....but i do sense God is always there....orchestrating, behind the scenes

I kind of had another epiphany come into my head last night. That my focus should be on who my husband will be, not who he currently is. That if I focus on the future husband, the appeal of the current one is pretty much not existent. And then my eyes aren't focused in what needs to change in him; instead I am holding to the future and praying that man into existence. Best way to keep my eyes off of the water is to keep my eyes on the "city in the sky" as Levi Lusko called it. The promise for a future.

Thank you for your comments TK and Sharon! Thanks also, Sharon, for sharing your epiphany. I have had thoughts like that before about G, and have even tried to share them with him, but that second part has never gone down very well. (He struggles to understand/accept that idea). I do think though that it is a great idea to keep in your mind and soul when you are praying for Chris and for your marriage, Sharon! Maybe we can start reading some about our identity in Christ and how about how God changes/transforms people. Another theme that I would be interested in doing a Bible study on is "fear." I really want to pray away this fear that I have been feeling lately, and also understand more about the fear that G has been experiencing, and how fear affects our spiritual lives. I looked at the Faith Gateway page, and I saw individual studies/articles but not any set series to follow... maybe I am looking at it wrong? I like the idea of having a multipart, already established study that we can progress through as a group over a series of weeks. It would be nice to have something that's already available in full now so we can each study it on our own time, and then discuss on the forum on particular days that work for us. (Tuesdays are usually good for me, and Thursdays are good after I finish teaching my two online classes today!). This is just a thought though, and I am open to other ideas of how to best do something like this! :-) I did see one article/study that I plan to check out: www.faithgateway.com/more-powerful-than-fear/#.WiAiBLbMy8o It's about addressing fear. I will post later once I go through it and share my thoughts. I also like the idea of fasting... I used to do fasts at least once a month with my church but stopped a while ago (just due to spiritual laziness). Could we perhaps decide a particular day each week to fast together and discuss the bible study? What do you guys think? I would love to do something in collaboration with y'all since you form a very important community group for me.

Tuesday's or Thursday's are both good for me. I would love to go through the Study "Goliath must Fall" by Louie Giglio or "Uninvited" by Lysa Terkuerst if you guys want to consider those too? I went through both a few months ago and they are amazing studies and I would love to do them again. Goliath must fall talks about the big giants in our life - fear, rejection, etc. Uninvited is about finding your identity in how Christ sees us.

Hey Sharon! Thanks for the suggestions. I looked them up and both of those studies look good to me. Just to clarify: for both we would need to purchase the book, right? Would you recommend we also purchase the study guide for "Goliath must fall"? I see that there seems to be a study guide online through Proverbs 31 Ministries for "Uninvited."
Let's see what Timi thinks and then maybe we can get something going in December! I think a specific study would be a good way to help me get back on track, and also to continue to grow closer as a community.

Hey Adrienne, I went the lazy route and did not purchase the book or study guide and they are not completely necessary to follow the videos, but I am going to purchase at least the book if we do either of those! Both of the studies are amazing and I think worth the cost.

Hi all! Unfortunately i cannot commit to a bible study right now. Tax season starts in 4 weeks and the free time i usually have is gone with physical therapy, neurofeedback, etc.

I would like to do a bible study. I’m open to either one. I did the Louis Giglio one through the Bible app on my phone - but I’m willing to do it again. I’m open to uninvited also. I really need to start viewing myself the way God sees me...

Timi - I completely understand! I keep forgetting that January is right around the corner. Please remind us in a few weeks so we can be keeping you in prayer!
Pstokes - I want to apologize, because I am terrible with names and I always forget whether you're Patricia or Pamela... I want to say Pam, but I hate to get it wrong... Sorry about that! Thanks for your reply and for your interest in the bible study - it seems like we'll have a good little group.
Sharon, do you want to be the tiebreaker? I said I might prefer the Giglio study and P expressed that the Uninvited one might be good for her right now. (I do like that there is a really detailed bible study of Uninvited available on the Proverbs 31 page, but Giglio's book also has a study guide available to purchase). I think either would be beneficial, but how do we pick which one? :-) I would love to buy one of the books and get started soon!

Gosh thanks for that pressure Adrienne! Lol!!! I would really love to start with Uninvited if that's okay with you. I want to do the Giglio one too, but Uninvited does address fear too and I know it will touch your heart! What do you think?

Haha no pressure intended Sharon ;-) I just knew you already had a good idea of both studies and thought you might have a better idea of which would be a good one for our group right now! I'll order the Uninvited book - yay!

I am so excited! I can't wait to get started! I am going to order it right now too! Just a by the way - I mentioned it a few days ago, but not sure if you saw it. I've noticed a few of our regular members are not around anymore...has anyone heard from William, Mary, Leandro, Marissa, Lindsey,...There was another man I can't remember his name right now (Maybe tyler?) If you guys have their numbers, would you reach out to check in on them?

Adrienne, do you want to start a new Uninvited Bible Study post under the Devotionals tab maybe? So everyone can follow along on the updates, even if they are not participating in the study. If you start that, I can post the link to the first Uninvited Video session and we could get started as soon as everyone gets their book. Is there a date you guys want to get started? Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday works best for me, but if you all would prefer Saturday or Sunday I can do that too!
