Hi all! Well, as it goes with my life, if you miss a week, you miss a lot. So....here goes....
i mentioned to Dana on father's day that the outdoor spigot is leaking. You all might remember that in April 2015 (A few months after Dana left) that the same spigot leaked and flooded our entire finished basement! Dana was not helpful then.....that was our silent period (really his angry period).
So, that flood actually started me remodeling the entire house. My theory being that it would look great if we sold it....or it would be fresh and new if Dana returned home....or it was a new chapter for me if I stayed (there's a bible verse about not remembering the former things....but it escapes me at the moment).
So, back to present....a week after Father's day, Dana comes by on Sunday to say hi. I was actually across the street at my dear friend, Ruthe's ( who was just diagnosed with stage 3 Pancreatic cancer)....several neighbors get together often to help with housework etc. I was in the front garden with the neighbors when Dana pulled up. I wanted to show him the leak....which only leaks when you use it. I know that makes sense, but I didn't connect those dots the day before when I had the grandgirls wash the car....remnants of my concussion are still there. So we went to check the basement room (now the gym) to see if there are signs of damage. Yes! Drywall, baseboards and soaking wet carpet....my heart sank. But what was interesting was how Dana responded....he jumped in and started tearing out, helping. He wasn't angry or upset....it was amazing. It took all afternoon and he was cute to make sure I wasn't doing more than I should with my car accident injuries. I am so blessed that the Lord showed me the change in Dana....i truly feel good about a flood! Because God is working! Dana has helped with calls to plumbers, flooring etc these last couple of days.
Then, he got a call his aunt died, so he leaves today to go to Utah for funeral. He mentioned he's worried about me trying to handle contractors while he's gone....because he knows I'm going in today to get shots in my back to help break up the scar tissue that causes my pain. I have to be purposefully very still for first 48 hours. Sitting at computer is fine, so I'm planning a couple office admin days....which I so need anyway. Then for 14 days I'm supposed to be extra active.... so I'm praying this all works to help me get back to living normally.
