Holidays can be hard for standers. Some of us are still with our prodigal husband or wife, but things may not be in the best place. Some of us may not have heard from them in some time. Or may have heard news or seen witness of them dating or in another relationship. Whatever the case, it may not live up to our human expectations.
Sometimes the hardest thing we will do all day is go another moment. Fighting for something that it seems we are the only one who wants it... Brothers and sisters, we aren't the only ones. If you have made the choice to stand, it is because God has called you to it. This is too hard for us to do on our own. Those not called to wouldn't have the strength to stumble through. There have been days stumbling and crawling was as far as I could go. We are told to live by faith, and not by sight. That is a hard thing to do. When you are seeing things you don't want to see, being told things you don't want to hear... It's hard, but we aren't alone. We have a father and an older brother who will guide us, and lend us strength. Who will help us along this path.
Father, thank you for this day. Whatever today has brought, be it peace, or struggle, laughter, or tears. I thank you for it. Daddy, use it to shape us, use it to guide us, to humble us, to turn to you first. You have called us to something glorious! Speak to our hearts as only you can. Give us the strength and vigor to make it another day. Lead us, Father, to the path you have chosen for us. Speak to our prodigals. Convict their heart, and speak your love and truth to them. Guide and keep them safe on their journey in the far country. Break their hearts for you, and then mend them anew. Lord, I ask you to guide us to speak your words, and show your glory even in our hurts, that we may reflect you to those that cannot see. I ask all these things in Jesus holy name. Amen.
Brothers and sisters, I love you all, and hope you have a blessed Valentine's Day.
