Dana and i have our first counseling session tomorrow morning. Well, it's actually our "intake"appt. It's kinda cool how our old church does counseling. First of all it's our old church because we both agreed several years ago it was getting too big and geared mostly to new believers. I checked their website for counseling and discovered that they actually have 7 to choose from. They perform an intake on us and actually recommend the best fit. I know counseling is important and I'm thrilled that Dana suggested it, but i also know its not the end all cure all. This will be a tough road back. One part of me says we've built up a lot of bad habits that need fixed in the last 20 years, and part of me says, well something must be ok, because it's lasted that long. I pray that the counselor that the Lord sees as most beneficial to us is who we end ip with. I pray for wisdom for that person to help us with God's guidance as a compass. I pray we stay committed thru the tears and grow closer with the laughs. I'm nervous, I'm scared, I'm humbled that the lord thinks we can do this. I dont feel completely ready, but god's got our backs. Thanks for your prayers! You all are so amazing....every one of you!

Tk that is wonderful to hear, I'm very very happy for you and your husband. God's promises do come to reality we just have to believe that is already done. I want to share this verse with you

Especially praying that you guys have a counclor that understands your stand!
We did councling at our old church before tony & I separated. Once he left, she did not understand my stand at all and so I had to stop seeing her.

TK I am so excited for this new start for you! I wanted to encourage you to suggest praying together with Dana before you go into every counseling session. If you can make a habit out of that, I feel it will make a big difference in your hearts and you can't go wrong if you start each session submitting to God

After counseling, i cried for my husband. He is so broken in spirit. He is crushed from his abusive childhood. You all might remember he never told me about it until we separated.....he kept the pain inside for years. So we will have couples counseling, but Dana will also have personal trauma couseling. There is no way he's ready for contributing to us until he gets through this. So, i see the couples counseling probably needing to wait. I'm totally fine with that....i just want him to be well. I see now this is affecting every aspect of his life.....the weight of his suffering is affecting his work and explains the strained relationship with our daughter. Our marriage is the ultimate victim of this unspeakable abuse. I've never seen someone so hurting and defeated. Tears. He's barely able to walk right now. Please pray for his healing.

Lord, I lift Dana up into your loving arms. Heal him, take away his pain. Lord, we don't even realize how the events of our lives affect us for the rest of our lives, but Lord we do know that we can find love and safety in You. Dear Jesus, take Dana by the hand and lead him into that place of peace, joy and rest that only You can give. Give TK and their daughter an unconditional love that is so great that Dana feels it with every fiber of his being. Give them all the patience that is going to be required to travel this road to healing.
And Lord, I know David had a very abusive childhood also. Lord, where he spoke to me about some of the incidents, he never spoke to anyone who knew how to help him process the pain. Lord, there are things from my childhood that I never knew how to handle. I suspect that many of the men and women who are running away from love and their marriages are really running away from painful memories. I pray for your healing for ALL of them, prodigals and standers alike who need Your love and peace so desperately. Show us Lord how to love. Show us how to find peace and joy and how to extend grace to others, at the same time accepting the love and grace You are extending to us. Lord we live in a world full of hurting people. Help us Lord be Your lighthouse for this world, and Lord I ask you to let it start in our very homes with the spouses that we all love so much. But Lord, I pray we never again take our eyes off of You. That You will always be number one in our lives - our first true love. In Jesus precious name I pray. Amen.

Sister TK,
I am so happy that Gods working overtime in your stand, He is such an amazing Father. Be strong & keep your focus on Him, keep us informed and I will be praying!!!

Praying for you both sister. God will heal his heart. He put him with a loving and patient woman so that He could have glory in the end of this. He will do amazing things in your husband and your marriage
