Chris built a home theatre in the basement for us. It was really nice! He bought the surround sound speakers and set up the projector and even got us these beautiful reclining chairs and it's really just perfect. And for a while it was working really nicely until one day, our receiver started dying suddenly. We sent it in for repairs and were told when it was returned that there was no problem with it and it's likely overheating, because of the circulation of air in the room. So Chris started a project this week to get the circulation issue fixed. He will be installing a shelf with built in fans to help the air flow. He has the whole project planned out and has made all preparations and ordered necessary pieces to get the project done. This evening, he started by knocking a hole in the wall. When Christian heard all the banging and sawing happening in the basement, he came running down the stairs shouting. "Daddy! Daddy! What are you doing?! Stop breaking my house!!!" It was adorable and of course it made me laugh. "Don't worry Christian! Daddy is breaking the house, but it's so that he can fix it!" Of course, Christian didn't understand at all and Anniya (9 years old) even said "Sharon, that doesn't make any sense. Why would you break something to fix it?" God spoke to me just then that our lives are just like that. He is the Father. He has made all the plans, bought all the parts, and has everything in order to fix this problem he sees in our lives. And He begins first, by knocking a hole in our lives. In our limited perspective, where we don't understand the whole picture or the plan, we look at our Father and say "Why would you break this? Why would you break something to fix it?" We might even shout out to God, "What are you doing?! Stop breaking it!", but God is our Father and He has the whole plan! He has the entire picture in front of Him and we don't have to understand it! We just have to trust that our Father has a plan and knows what he is doing. We have to sit back and watch as he breaks down the wall, because he is building something much better and He is going to fix it!
