Friends, sorry I'm so needy today!!
Most of y'all know that my husband is from Guatemala. Since we got married we have been trying to get his legal situation figured out. It is a very expensive and slow process...
When they first gave him legal residency it was temporary on the basis of us proving that we were married "for real." The "probationary" time period (two years) ended last September and we asked for him to be granted permanent status... They have taken until now to respond and now they say there isn't enough proof that we're actually married and we have to send in more evidence (we already sent in so much!!!) to demonstrate it.
The biggest evidence is having kids or a house together... I am a 26 year old graduate student and we have neither! I'm still in school and not ready to have kids yet and we don't have the money for a downpayment for a house!
I'm so frustrated that they are doubting our marriage... I want to respond and reveal exactly how *real* our marriage is: they have no idea what we've gone through to make this marriage work!
I know I need to just calm down and pray. Thanks for your support in prayer my friends.

Praying for you Adrienne. You've had an emotional day. Sleep tight and let god have the worry of tomorrow. You are strong and wise. Trust in the lord.

Adrienne, I am so sorry that this has to even be a concern for you. It makes me sad for you. You are clothed with strength and dignity and I am certain you will do what is right and necessary. I will be praying for wisdom and that this situation doesn't cause more tension in your marriage.

Good morning, dear friends, thanks again for your prayer support all day yesterday!!! I really appreciate you all and am grateful to God for joining us together as a prayerful community!!
I got so worried about this last night and woke up with it on my mind. I am trying to pray and just TRUST. I was talking it over with my husband and he is being a voice of calm right now which is great. Last year when we had to renew the paperwork for the first time he was angry and frustrated about the process and I was super calm, so it's a bit of a role reversal. I can appreciate the fact that God is working in our hearts to help us support each other!!!
So he is really calm and seems confident and spoke to me really supportively, which was nice since often he has no patience when I get emotional. We're just going to send them as much "evidence" as we have, we're not going to jump and try and get pregnant right this minute or anything when we know that isn't where we are right now.
The deadline to send in the materials is July 22 so we'll be in this all summer. I would really appreciate prayers in the coming months as we go through this process yet again... for us to be patient and wise, for God to provide the funds and help that not be a source of stress for us, for everything to just go smoothly.
Thanks again, my friends.

I will pray for you Adrianne and trust the lord he will give you all the things that you desire according to his word, and being legal with your husband in this country is surely one of them.

Thank you everyone for your continued prayers!
We will be meeting with the lawyer this afternoon to talk about our course of action.
G is feeling so much pressure lately, from work and now from this and also more recently from his family in Guatemala. They are asking for him to send more and more money and really pressuring him beyond what he can give, with no comprehension of or concern about what he is dealing with here.
I am praying for all of these areas, for God to be guiding this situation, for Him to give my husband strength and patience, and for myself to be that helper and support that God made me to be. Again, I really appreciate your prayer support in all of this!

You know Adrianne now that you mentioned that your husband is from Guatemala, there is a pastor from there that has helped me a lot and he is a great man of God. His name is pastor cash Luna and he might be of interest to your husband, there are tons of his preachings on YouTube. Hope it helps in someway God bless you.

Hey, Leandro! We actually know of that pastor and have listened to a lot of his sermons on YouTube. My husband really likes the way he preaches but unfortunately my husband has not been very open to anything God-related since he left the church roughly 2.5 years ago. I appreciate the recommendation!
