Sometimes I have a hard time in regards to thinking about stuff in the past. If only I would of done, said, acted, or reacted differently. These thoughts can consume us if we dwell on them.
When we we confessed our sins to God, He forgave us, wiped the slate clean, gave us a re-do. Instead of thinking about the "what ifs" think of the past as not who you are but as a mere starting point for how far you have come.

William the enemy attacks me the same way, but I always bring to memory this verse hope it helps you because it gives me peace whenever I think that I shouldn't have done what I done but it doesn't matter now, we are here and God has forgiven us for our sins. Let nothing discourage you brother. “"Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV

Amen! Leandro is so right. The enemy is creeping in and giving you those thoughts. He does it to all of us I think. I wish I had fought this way, I wish I had said these words, I should try to say these words now even. It's not God. Its that doubt that TK talks about - the enemy trying to convince us that the Lord won't use everything, even the bad things, for His good! We know he will turn all bad into good for His glory! We have to trust him that any decisions, choices, words that were said, etc, will all be used by God.

A little clarification, I don't dwell on thinking of the past, the post was meant to remind us all that we have been forgiven by our Father thus we shouldn't be consumed by our past mistakes.

Sharon, your response reminded me of a post on social media by a preacher I follow. She said, "When people throw dirt, remember you're a seed. God is about to use what the enemy meant for evil to make you grow."

Whew, I needed to see this today, thank you for sharing this! I've been feeling really bad lately, thinking about what I did to cause my husband to leave (the suicidal thoughts I had). I need to realize that even if he hasn't forgiven me, God has!!
