Do you guys get this way? I'm upset and I don't want tomorrow to come. It just brings up memories of all the times I should have mattered and didn't. I always go big for Chris's birthday. I'm usually lucky if he even says happy birthday. I think he is trying this year, but I hope that every year and every year it's just another reminder that I don't matter the way I want to. I just want this week over.

Sharon, don't bring your self down like that. The lord gave me this verse one day and it has helped me a lot. Don't remember things from the past God is making new things. “"Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV bible.com/59/isa.43.18-19.esv

I'm sorry Sharon I'm fortunate in that dates don't phase me.. Holidays & birthdays & more of just another day to me. I wasn't that way tho before Tony & I separated. But thankfully during the time Tony Waa gone, I spent each & every holiday, my birthday, & our 2 anniversaries alone & no contact from him what so ever.... On top of that, I didn't spend my birthday with anyone doing anything other than taking care of my babies.. My dad texted me "happy 25th birthday" & I turned 23! It all stung but at the end of the day I spent each of those days with Jesus & it actually brought me into deeper intimacy within me & the Lords realationship. Rejoice Sharon! He's not in Korea this year for your birthday! Halijuah! & he actually remembered a head & time & mentined it to you! Thoes in themselves are actually huge birthday gifts on their own! Please dwell on how Jesus ever forgets.. He remembers the day of your birth like it just happened.. He remembers for-seeing the destiny you would have & the works you would do for the Kingdom. He saw that you were His & that one day you would love Him! So your birthday is even more special to our humble King than it is to anyone! He's truly celebrating in Spirit with you! Don't let that sneaky enemy distract you from Christs love! Put your hands on your face, and force your head to turn toward Jesus & His amazing Grace, & then dwel there.. <3

Thank you guys so much! Leondro thank you for that verse! I'm putting it in my prayer journal. Mary thank you! Yes you are right. I need to refocus AGAIN! Birthdays have never meant anything to me, but when Chris stopped caring, it started hurting and it's become an excuse to lick old wounds and I'm missing an opportunity to celebrate with my true love

Sharon, I can really identify with you on this topic. I always make a big deal about G's birthday and he has often forgotten mine or barely done anything to celebrate it. It's hard because we build up expectations and also read a lot more into it than I think they do... G doesn't really care about celebrating his birthday, but I do, and so I always get disappointed that he doesn't approach it the same way that I do... But maybe in that sense it's like the love languages almost... They show love in different ways. And don't always understand the ways we want to feel love... I don't think they intentionally ignore the date or anything like that.
With that idea in mind, I agree with Mary that it is so great that Chris has made some gestures! Try and keep your mind in the present, even if that means you have to continually be consciously changing your mental path. Remember self-control is a fruit of the Spirit! God will guide you to control your thoughts and perspective if you just lean on Him. And I would hate for your mind to get you into trouble when Chris is actually making an effort!
Like Mary said.. Try and focus on God's blessings over you in this new year of life that He has granted you! And I'll be praying for that shift in perspective too!!!
Big hugs and happy almost birthday dear friend :-) God bless you always!

Happy birthday Sharon! I'll be praying for you today! Do your best to not focus on the negative and instead try to to focus on today being a gift from God. That God woke you up gave you another year of life. How precious that is! Enjoy today and celebrate God giving you life. I pray you enjoy today!

Hey guys. Thanks so much for all the encouragement! I was carrying that verse and the present thinking mindset with me today and I've been forcing away the negative thoughts and it actually turned out to be a really nice day. Chris brought my sister and I (we're twins, so it's both our birthdays) lunch this morning, when I got home he'd gotten me flowers and balloons and a separate card from him and the kids. It was really really nice. The devil was really trying to destroy this day, and I really needed that reminder (thank you so much yall seriously), that I have to focus on what is lovely, right, admirable and keep my focus on God. I was able to see the good in the day instead of being angry and bitter and sad. Feeling so blessed.

It's a bit late in the day now, but Happy Birthday Sharon!!! I have been away for most of the day but have had you in my prayers and thoughts! I'm glad that it turned out to be a nice day :-) I pray that this new year is full of blessings for you and that you can also grow closer to God this year than you already are!
