I am not sure where to put these types of posts. (I guess we need an update/random thoughts section)
I left the house for work this morning, and saw my wife walking to her car from my in-laws. I got in the car and started driving to work. I saw her, and assumed she saw me, but neither of us really acknowledged it. She pulled out behind me also heading to work. We work in the same direction. You actually pass my work, to get to hers. And before I get on the interstate, I end up behind a (let's not say slow, but slower than I wanted to drive) pickup truck. And all I can see in my mind was my wife getting on the interstate behind me and getting into the left lane to go around me and him both and seeing one of two things, either her running off and leaving me in the distance, or me spending the drive "chasing" her to keep up... So, as soon as I merged onto the interstate I got in the left lane (it was clear for a mile or so behind me no fast or furious driving here) pass him and proceed down the interstate. Until I couldn't see her car, for other traffic a few miles down the road.
This didn't make me feel any better and I was slightly speeding ( 5-7 miles over the limit), so I got in the right lane and slowed down to the speed limit. Almost to my exit and I can see her catching up to me, until I guess she saw me and got behind a semi truck that was behind me. Just before my exit there was a work Truck in the right hand median and the semi got over in the left lane to give them more clearance and she is there behind me, a semi length or so back, and she also gets in the left lane and kind of hides behind it, until I pull off at my exit. I see her go past me as I am on the off ramp and she never looked over my way that I could see.
Fast forward to this afternoon and I get a text from my mother-in-law, saying she has some of my mail. I don't know if this is, my mother-in-law checking the mail today (she had our spare key for quite a while) or if my wife just doesn't want to see me that badly.
All I could think about today was hiding. You hide for a couple of reasons, either you are ashamed of something, embarrassed about something, or you are afraid of something. I take it as a semi good thing. Either she is ashamed or embarrassed by God's conviction, or she is afraid to see me. I am not sure how to take that side of it.
On a semi-unrelated topic I am taking a class this semester, on World Religions. And I have a paper coming up soon, that I have to compare something about different religions. And I have chosen Christian weddings, Jewish weddings, and Japanese Shinto weddings. (Thought the first two symbolically were too similar to be the only topics). I thought I was a glutton for punishment, but it has been quite a blessing in the rough draft so far.
