I sometimes struggle with both anger and anxiety in moments during this storm, and have these verses that I like to read, re-read, and say to myself in effort to not let those emotions invoke a foolish quick tempered reaction or take root and give birth to bitterness. I wanted to share them with y'all.
Matthew 5:2
Jesus said, " I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother (insert name) will be subject to judgment. But anyone who says, " 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell."
Ephesians 4:31-32
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Anger is not something that we only can project towards others but just as worse we can let it take root in ourselves in the form of resentment for things we have done, not done, said, not said and so on. Anger is the one of the many emotions that if left to take root and go on uncontrolled can leave an opening for the evil one to gain a foothold.
Jeremiah 17:7-8
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and repetition, with thanksgiving, present you requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 16:13
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.
Joshua 1:9
Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
I think that having anxiety during our stands is an emotion that we get a lot, but we need to remember that what we are going thru is not a "punishment" for something we have done in our lives or a "test" of our spiritual self, but a part of his master plan that he had planned for us before we were born. It is hard...Lord God, I know its hard, but if we read, reflect, pray and put into actions his words that have been written it does not make it easy but brings about peace cause the faith we have in him.
