Thank you for sharing this!! I'm not sure exactly in what way I can humble my self before Him, but I'm now praying for Him to show me!

Thanks for sharing this, Eric! It really spoke to me when I listened.
Mary, for me humbling myself is remembering that I'm not supposed to be fighting alone. I'm not responsible for my husband's choices, and I'm also not responsible for his salvation. It's about remembering that I need God's help to be a model for him and to keep standing, and then putting that knowledge into practice through prayer, reading the Word, acting with love through God's grace and the Spirit's aid... etc.

It's amazing we're talking about this, because our pastor talked about this last night at church. We're reading through the book of Mark and the sermon was about denying yourself, taking up your cross, and following him. To me, denying myself means giving up my desires - specifically this desire to have my husband be the man I want him to be. I want it so bad, more then anything in the world, and to deny myself I have to give that up. If I can put aside the idea that I'm working towards "fixing" my husband, and instead take up my cross and follow Christ, I would be humbling myself by denying what I desire. The pastor did talk about helping others carry their cross though. I can't just leave my husband out of my prayer and fellowship with God IF HE WANTS TO JOIN ME, but if he doesn't have the desire, I have to deny myself. I can't carry his cross for him, but I can help him carry it if he wants the help.

Also, can I just put out a thank you Lord for Eric! Brother you are amazing with the computer stuff. I am seriously impressed that you found a way to imbed that clip into the forum and that you found a way to put this whole site together for us so that we can all stay connected. We're very blessed to have you in this group!

I am glad to help out. Took me a long time to see my comfort with technology as a type of ministry. Never saw it as a value like preaching or music to lead worship. I just help out where I can.

God is so good to give us the gifts he knows we will need and gives us opportunities to use them for His glory.
