I'm new glad to be here

My husband and I have been married for 11 years last August. On our anniversary last year I could not find one good thing to say to him. I was in tears about how horribly separated, distant and isolated I felt from him. He is a gambling addict and there has been a lot of turmoil over finances, child care, responsibility, lying, sneaking, avoiding, yelling, name calling, disrespect, dishonor, enabling the list goes on and on. Our marriage was falling apart. We have two young children and I knew something has to change because there was so much dysfunction and it wasn't healthy for them. I told myself it was either divorce or get help for myself. I kept telling myself divorce was not an option no matter how many times I wanted it. I started going to gam anon meetings which led me to codependents anonymous which ultimately led me to a Christ centered recovery program for codependents. It was empowering to know that although I couldn't change my husbands thoughts or actions I could change myself. It's been 7 months and my marriage is being redeemed and restored. My husband is going with me to church and he is praying with the family. He demanded a day shift schedule instead of night shift schedule so that he could be home for his family more. I keep praying he will get into a recovery program but God is in control.
