My dad has some health problems with his throat and breathing. Long story very short, he gets pneumonia very easy and quite frequently. And every time it happens he fights going to the hospital, and usually it ends up worse until he has to go.
I call my parents on my way home from work every day, and today mom was telling me of him having some confusion this morning, and him just wanting to go to sleep this afternoon. When I spoke to her at 5pm she was waiting on a neighbor to get back home to help her get him in the car and situated for her to take him to the hospital. When they got there he was unresponsive and they couldn't wake him up so they called an ambulance. He is in the ER right now getting scans done to see exactly what is going on. I am asking for prayer for not only my dad, but my mom (who is at the hospital with him, my sister (who is on the way to the hospital), the Dr's, nurses and hospital staff.
Father God, I come to you tonight worried, but trusting. Lord you are the great physician, and you know what each of us face and what our purpose and time is. Lord God, I do not believe it is my dad's time, I pray that you touch him, that you guide the nurses and Dr's hands and steps that they find, treat, and help in your path to healing. Lord, I will be honest, I don't know if my father is saved, and I ask you if he isn't, that you give me a chance to correct this before you take him home... Father, I ask this in your son's holy name. Amen.

Mom called about 2am. After the 3rd type of antibiotic administered, he started responding a bit. He hadn't actually woke up, but some responding. I haven't gotten any further update yet this morning, but thank you for the prayers. God is good.

Further update. They have him on a Bi-pap breathing machine. When he came in his oxygen levels were low so they put him on 100% oxygen. Which can apparently cause your body not to flush all the carbon dioxide out of your blood properly. This new breathing machine is supposed to help with that. He has woken up a couple of times today, but has been confused and not really understanding what is going on. Which is understandable with oxygen and carbon dioxide issues. They see some fluid around his lungs and heart, but we think that is from the pneumonia and being week. Thank you for the prayers.
I got a text from my wife this morning, saying she was sorry to hear about dad, and that she was praying for him. I texted her mom yesterday when I found out and asked her for prayers, but couldn't figure out how to ask my wife, as odd as that sounds, but God let her know. I am not sure if it was through a Facebook post from my niece, or her hearing it through her mom this morning.

Eric, the Lord is using your crisis with your dad to talk to your wife. I'm certain of that. Remember Romans 8:28 "all things work to the glory of the Lord". He is our strength and refuge. You are fighting the good fight....so press on. You are so insightful and god fearing. He will sustain you. I'm praying for you brother!

You've been on my mind today often brother. Is there any new news of your dad or communication with your wife? Still have you and the family in prayers.

Update as of this afternoon. I was able to call and actually speak to him for just a moment, before nurses came in. They know at some point Thursday he had a mild heart attack. He still has fluid around his heart and lungs. They have scheduled an ultrasound to get a better picture of things tomorrow. He is awake more, but still confused. His oxygen levels still aren't staying high enough. From the fluid around his lungs as well as in his lungs from the pneumonia, I think. All in all, he is much better than he was Thursday, but still has some healing to go. God has brought him this far, and I trust he will continue blessing us with this recovery.
